The Borough of Media contracted with Linn Architects when they were interested in converting the 100+ years old armory into usable retail space. The building had been sitting vacant for years and was in dire need of not only repair, but a feasible new use.
Linn Architects reviewed all of the building's assets and collaborated with John Bowie Associates in prescribing the necessary repairs to various elements of the building. Our two firms also coordinated and documented the careful integration of a new entry addition and ramp onto the historically-sensitive building, assisting its transition to valuable retail space.
Soon after Trader Joe's leased the main space in the upper level, the Pennsylvania Veterans Museum found a home in the lower level... the perfect adaptive reuse for a former armory.
